One of the major benefits of a partnership with Fasteign is our well-considered maintenance policy. We are focused on keeping our assets in the best possible condition so that they function effectively. Our assets are distributed all around the country and it is important to contact us if you think maintenance is required. All repairs, large and small, are important to us and we encourage leaseholders to be vigilant regarding every detail.

We work with the local community

Construction, operation and maintenance of our properties are carried out in close collaboration with leaseholders, and we do our best to find contractors and labour in the local neighbourhood. We place great emphasis on giving leaseholders easy access to Fasteign staff, specialists, consultants and contractors. Working together in close cooperation allows us to serve our leaseholders in the most economical manner and complete work to the satisfaction of the occupants and other stakeholders. If you are a tradesman or contractor in a local authority where Fasteign assets are located and you are interested in working for us, we will be delighted to hear from you. Maintenance

During the last few years, Fasteign has built a maintenance system that is breathing new life into old buildings that were disfiguring their surroundings.

Reykjanesbær Swimming Centre

The Reykjanesbær Swimming Centre is a good example of this type of project. Although the Centre was not particularly old when the first picture was taken, a few years ago, it was becoming seriously dilapidated. The building is in the town centre and it was negatively affecting the community’s image. Now, after repairs and the addition of a new extension, the Swimming Centre is a source of pride for the residents of Reykjanesbær.

Westman Islands Primary School

No one can deny that the Westman Islands Primary School is a fine enhancement in the town, now that Fasteign has restored the school to its attractive former state. Breathing new life into these functionally significant and historically valuable old buildings was a fascinating project for us at Fasteign and for many local councillors.

Holtaskóli School, Reykjanesbær

Holtaskóli Middle School in Keflavík was originally built in 1958. It has been extended a number of times over the years. Changes to the education system meant that the role of the school changed, requiring alterations to the school’s façade. In 2005, work started on coordinating the appearance of the newer buildings using cladding. Holtaskóli School now has a uniform look that gives the impression that all of the units were built at the same time. The school fits well into its surroundings beside the splendid Reykjanesbær Swimming Centre and has a positive bearing on the whole environment.

Fasteign and old buildings

Fasteign is prepared to take over old buildings. We will then apply our professional skills to restore and repair them. As the examples show, these buildings affect their surroundings and they can become objects of pride and historical significance for the local community.
